Kruidnootjes side

With very little effort you have a big result if you bake kruidnootjes (gingerbread nuts) with the young monsters. They find it super fun and can do most of it themselves. The youngest knead the dough, roll balls, flatten them and place them onto the baking sheet. And that's about all there is to it!

There even are mini-monsters here who stand the full quarter in front of the oven, to see the kruidnootjes bake ;D

Sift the flour into a bowl and add all the other ingredients.

Mix all together until you have coarse crumbs.

Knead the dough by hand until smooth and place it in a clean bowl.

Cover the dough and allow it to rest for 1 hr in a cool place.

Do not place the dough in the refrigerator, then the dough will become too hard!

Preheat the oven to 160°C and place parchment paper on two baking trays

The miniature cookies are yummie, they disappear in record time. Because mini-monsters are the very best in eating cookies!

Make traditional Dutch 'strooigoed' of the kruidnootjes by mixing them with candy hearts and chocolate coins.

Happy Sinterklaas celebration to all!
