Every five years, on May 5th, we celebrate with a day off of work and school that on that date the Second World War ended in the Netherlands. Now that so many countries in the world are at war again and it is talked about a lot on the children's news and can also be seen in real time , it is a scary time for many children.
Fortunately, children are often wiser than many adults! They want all bombs out of the world and preferably all weapons too. No more fighting! Then no one has to defend themselves. Everyone free, everyone happy! is good advice, we believe. That is why we are making the Ban-the-Bomb logo today, which was used worldwide in the sixties, to protast against nuclear weapons.
How to make a cheerful Ban The Bomb Sign!
Trace a large circle on coloured crafting cardboard
Trace in the middle of the circle a smaller circle.
Draw, using a ruler, 2 vertical stripes in the inner circle.
Then draw 2 diagonal lines on both sides, as shown in the photo.
Cut out the circle on the outer line..
Cut out the shapes on both top sides.
Also cut out the 2 bottom shapes.
This is what the original sign from the 1960's looked like
Cut out all sorts of fun figures from felt, crafting foam or coloured cardboard
Cut circles in various circles.
Also cut out hearts.
And moons as well.
Stick it all on the way you like it.
Allow the glue to dry completely.
Find a good spot to hang your Peace (Ban the Bomb) Sign.
Wishing you a Happy Liberation Day, on March 5th!
