Every year on February 2 Candlemas is celebrated at Waldorf schools around the world. Candlemas has a religious meaning in the Catholic Church, but in anthroposophy the Candlemas annual festival means the celebration of the return of light to earth. The light festivals have ended, Spring is coming!
We also see it outside, because it stays light longer and the snowdrops are the first to stick their heads above the ground. All the candle stubs that are left over after the dark winter days are melted down and lit during Candlemas. Pancakes are eaten and Candlemas songs are sung.
Wishing you all a beautiful Candlemas celebration!
