Making a picture book about the origin of the earth is quite a job, but make one for pre-schoolers? Impossible! Nevertheless, the brilliant Catarina Sobral, Portuguese illustrator / writer of children's books, has succeeded. The book tells about stars and planets, the big bang, particles and atoms, the first plants and animals, dinosaurs and stardust. The book seemed a very good choice for Earth Day and indeed it is!
The childlike, colourful illustrations are super fun and comical, for young and older. The texts are short and simple, but not really understandable for our youngest mini-monsters. A terrific book but one that unfortunately has not (yet) been translated into English.
