We found this non-fiction nature book Calm down... and look around you in the library and we are all happy with it! Because the British writer/editor/journalist Carl Wilkinson has decided to write children's books after 20 years. And he is good at it! Both the out loud readers, the young listeners and the young by themselves readers love this book.
The information is short, concise but fact based and also very understandably written for children. Every now and then we were all completely amazed by what is happening around us. Nature never sleeps! Whether it's extremely hot or icy cold, it was yesterday or centuries ago, nature keeps doing it's work.
All over the world, wherever you live, all sorts of things are happening in nature , under ground and above, in the water and in the air. Even in the universe, there is always something going on, there are dying stars and new ones being born, there are sunspots or light reflections and other phenomena, too many to mention here.
Carl Wilkinson wrote down 40 of these wonders for us, spectacular or small, fast or very slow, but always special. Although you may not think about it after reading this book, you will. This is a beautiful book from which we can all learn a lot and the beautiful drawings were made by Grace Helmer.
