Today we read a very nice flap cardboard book with the little ones, from the series First Festivals, Diwali. Unfortunately in English because the book has not (yet) been translated. But the illustrations are very cute and the surprises under the flaps are even more fun! The mini-monsters learn of a celebration they don't know much about but that is celebrated by some of children at school.
A good time to talk about people sometimes celebrating different things and what that looks like. Especially if you live in Rotterdam, with classmates from many different backgrounds in the classroom. Together with the class the the mini-monsters also make fun crafts.
The book is much in demand by the little monsters, they love flap books and this book is very attractively illustrated by Aditi Kakade Beaufrand. We love learning through playing, so we are happy to read it aloud. Also recommended in English, this fun Diwali book!
