To have more fun playing with the stove you need some food to prepare in the pots and pans. Also an oven rack and a baking tray would not go amiss. That's what we are making today! Start with the oven rack, this you have to make together, an adult saws, the kids paint.

How to make an oven rack and different kinds of food

Saw in a miter tray a corner from the slat.

Measure 22.5 cm and saw off an other corner.

Mark the sawed off piece on the slat and saw it off too.

Now you have two pieces which are exactly the same size .

Saw another two pieces of 14 cm, also miter (corner).

Cut off the wooden skewers to 16 cm length.

Glue the slats together and the cut off skewers on top.

First let the glue dry well, then paint the rack silver.

The rack needs three coats of paint on both sides to cover it.

Now the wire rack fits precisely into the oven.

On the oven rack you can bake bread or cupcakes for example.

Now we make a baking tray. An adult cuts the cardboard, the kids can glue and paint.

Cut off a 23x16 cm piece of cardboard.

Draw a line around it 1.5 cm from the edge.

Trace with scissors along a ruler a rill.

A rill makes the cardboard bend easier.

Fold the edges up and snip in the corners.

Spread strong glue on the corners and press them tight.

Put the tray aside to dry for now, we paint it later on.

We make the food

Use left over scraps of cardboard, draw different types of food on it.

Here's an example of bacon, egg and tomato.

Draw any type of food you like, do you like pizza maybe?

Cut out the food neatly.

Now we are going to paint all the food but also the baking tray we put aside.

Stick the food on a skewer (no Glue), it paints and it dries easy.

Paint the baking tray on both sides black and don't forget the edges.

A fried egg with bacon and mushrooms.

A burger with lettuce, tomato and onions.

A pizza with salami, cheese, olives and basil.

This food is all made from leftover cardboard because we like recycling very much at snazzie. But we can also make food in 3D from other materials such as clay, paper mache or felt for example. We will think about it.

But now we can already play with what we have created, later more ideas for the stove. Have lots of fun!
