A small wooden boat that can sail by itself using paddles, that's what one of our mini-monsters wants to make. He saw it on youtube and thought it super fun, so we start right away. But not with a sharp knife of course!

How to make a small paddle boat

Draw a line in the middle of 2 lollipopsticks.

Saw off the pieces on the marked lines.

Lay 1 whole stick on each side of the 2 half sticks.

Saw off 6 straight pieces the width of the first 4 sticks.

Glue them in the opening between front and rear end.

Saw off two pieces of 9 cm, save the short ends.

Stick the long ends on top of your boat.

Turn the boat upside down, glue the saved pieces in the rear.

Saw the front of the boat slanted.

Turn it over and saw off the opposite side.

Cut the point round, sand the boat smooth.

To make the paddle - that drives the boat forward - you need two pieces of wood which are round on both ends

Saw both ends of    cm from a lollipop stick.

Cut off straight sides at an angle, sand them round.

Tighten both pieces in a vise, then saw a slot.

Widen the slot using a cardboard nail file.

Slide the two pieces together to make the paddle.

Stick the rubber band through the holes on both sides.

Slip the rubber band on the boat's rear ends.

The longer you wind the peddle (a really long winding!), the longer your boat sails. Try it and you'll see, first in the bad tub then in a ditch.

Have fun with your boat!
