We are making a small, simple dollhouse for a sweet birthday girl. If you have a target line, like we do, with the birthday, start early. We really enjoy making a dollhouse and in the coming weeks we will make it cozy, with furniture. The wooden box we used, we bought earlier, we kept junk in it, That will be the basis, the rest is easy peasy!
How to make a small dollhouse
Draw the 2 parts for the roof on the plywood.
Sew the roof neatly, by hand or using a circular saw.
Also cut out a floor to make two floors in the house.
Saw 2 square slats on which the first floor can rest.
Cut a piece of wallpaper to fit the wall.
Brush glue on the wall and press the wallpaper on.
Allow the wall paper to dry thoroughly.
Glue the slats in the middle of the box.
Put on glue clamps and let the glue dry.
Saw the 'parquet' to size and glue the strips onto the floor.
Allow the glue to dry and stick a border on the floor all around.
If you want to finish the floor neatly saw a border (4 pieces of wood slanted) in the mitrebox and stick them onto the floor
Glue the floor on the wooden slats and while the the glue dries thoroughly you start on the roof
Saw a piece of wood, to fit on the roof.
Glue it onto one side of the roof.
Let the gluw dry again.
Glue the other half of the roof against it.
Paint the roof when the glue has dried.
Paint the edges and allow the paint to fully dry!
Saw off 2 triangular slats to the size of the roof.
Glue the slats on both sides on the top of the house, let the glue dry.
Glue the roof to the slats and let the glue dry overnight.
The dollhouse is now finished but still a bit empty, soon we'll make a start on the furniture!
