What do you need?
air drying clay
a mold (we used a vase)
fine sand paper
acrylic paint & brush
matte varnish & brush
An easy to make but sweet craft is a little tray made of air drying clay. It's handy to store little keepsakes in. Make it for your Mum or Dad, your Gran or your BFF. Februari is the month of Valentines!
How to make a sweet little tray
Knead the clay soft then roll it.
Press in a circle.
Cut out the cirkel.
Shape it by hand on the mold.
Allow the tray to dry on the mold overnight, then remove it carefully. Let it dry overnight again this with time the open side up.
Sand the rim of the tray smooth all around.
The rim doesn't have to be perferct, it's handmade.
Paint the tray on both sides.
- Decorate the tray to your own taste, we choose pink paint and hearts for Valentine.
- We have a little boy here who also wants to have a pretty bowl, but he prefers light blue with a moon and stars ;)
Draw your decorations.
We paint the edge gold.
The little hearts too.
Varnish the tray on both sides then the paint stays nice longer.
You can use it for anything, maybe chocolates or keepsakes.
Even if you leave the tray empty it looks lovely, we wish you a Happy Valentine's Day!
