How special is that? In Rotterdam there is a City Park with all the trimmings at a height of 9 meters! The park extends over 12 meters in length, making it one of the largest roof parks in Europe.

What's so great about a Roof Park?
Almost too many things to mention: there are the most beautiful trees, plants and shrubs, with paths where you can walk between, under or over the greenery. You almost forget that you are not on the ground. Than the animals, you see birds, insects everywhere and there even live sheep in the meadow.

There is a very large water playground for children and adults, which the residents of Delfshaven like to use in abundance in the summer. Also very special, there is a water staircase, that makes for a lot of fun on warm summer days!

The Roof Parc is ideal for children because there is besides a playground for the little ones also a separate natural playground where the kids can play in the mud. Lovely to see all those inner city kids running around en having fun outside in the sunshine! On top of all that you may picnic or barbecue here.

Because it is almost Autumn Break, we first went to have a look around during school hours. We wanted to see with our own eyes whether it is really that beautiful and fun before we come up with the mini monsters. But it exceeds our expectations, this beautiful park in the clouds.

It is so good for the children in the Delfshaven district to have a piece of nature this close to home. People work here voluntarily or come to help. You can also register for this, if you would like to participate. There is a bread and compost bin where you can hand in your old bread and other food scraps.

There are guided tours for a small fee. You go with a groupon tour with an employee who can tell you all about the ins and outs of this special Rotterdam park. About the climate-neutral meeting space and the collaboration with the Municipality of Rotterdam, Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam and others. This space has a green roof and rainwater circulation. Very interesting and educational, the tour was!

Afterwards you can look around at your leisure and have a nice cup of tea or coffee. In any case, we had a great morning there and will definitely come back with the little monsters during the Autumn holidays, because they will definitely love it here!
