Like almost all of Roald Dahl's books The Witches has been made into a movie too, and what a movie it is! Every year on Halloween this DVD is a 'must see' for our eldest mini-monsters and we watch it together with them.
There are children spooked by this DVD, especially when the chief witch takes off her 'face' it's really shocking and scary! The recommendation on the box is under 12 years old watch it with parental guidance. But we also watch with the over 12's. Not everyone is shockproof and we also love this movie.

The boy Luke is definitively acting great and Anjelica Houston is brilliant as the Supreme Witch! We find this old version of the film much more exciting than the new one, even though the old one may have some technical flaws, in comparison.
This movie leaves the shelf only once a year, that's enough excitement and also something to look forward to. We make it into a tradition this way. It's an awesome film, one that stays with you and remains exciting to watch again, year after year.
