Our book this week is called 0 is a strange number by artist Henriëtte Boerendans. Graduated from the Hague Art Academy - where she specialized in woodcuts - she made landscapes. She has exhibited at home and abroad and won various prizes for her exceptional work.
Only later Henriëtte Boerendans started to make picture books Her books are unlike any other picture book, she illustrates them with woodcuts of animals. This is an older book but it is much fun for the mini monsters. The information is educational and the kids can count with the animals or with the paw prints.
The colour combinations go really well with the lines of the woodcutting. The animals are fantastic. Our youngest listeners love this beautiful book and the readers enjoy reading it to them very much. It could not be better!
